At an altitude of 2500 meters above sea level, it is the most serene and beautiful part of the outer Himalayas, and is popular among the religious tourists, as it also shelters, one of the most beauteous temples of the local Himalayan deity, Maa Bhangiyani Temple. The pristine town is also popular among the Trekkers, as it is the gateway to the highest peak of the outer Himalayas, The Churdhar Peak.

This town was earlier known as ‘Dungbhangayani’ and was the summer capital of Sirmour. Maa Bhangayani Temple is situated in border of Shimla & Sirmour. What To See

  • Maa Bhangayni Temple: It is located at the foothills of lesser Himalayas or Shivalik ranges at Haripurdhar. Haripurdhar makes a compact border with Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh and is one of the legacies of “lands of gods”. The temple lies at an altitude of 8000 feet above sea level.
  • Renuka Lake: You can easily locate the establishment as it is in close proximity to Near Renuka Wildlife Sanctuary, Renukaji.
  • Churdhar sanctuary: It is located in Sirmour, Shimla district of the Indian state of Himachal pardesh. The sanctuary is named after the Churdhar Peak. Churdhar peak (elevation of 3647 metres; 11,965 feet) is the highest peak in Sirmour district and is also the highest peak in the outer Himalayas. The peak has a great religious significance for the people of Sirmour, Shimla and Solan of Himachal Pradesh and Dehradun of Uttrakhand. Churdhar is a holy place related with Shri Shirgul Maharaj (Chureshwar Maharaj), a deity widely worshipped in Sirmour and Chaupal.

How to Go

There is no direct connection from New Delhi to Maa Bhangayani Temple, Haripurdhar. However, you can take the train to Yamunanagar Jagadhri then take the taxi to Maa Bhangayani Temple, Haripurdhar. Alternatively, you can take the bus to Dehradun then take the taxi to Maa Bhangayani Temple, Haripurdhar.
